Examine the Verse
1 Corinthians 8:6
This verse is claimed to
provide the basis of the Iglesia ni Cristo
belief in the absolute oneness of God,
that the only true God is the Father in heaven;
The Father is the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of all things;
God is Spirit, eternal, immortal and invisible.
|
But we know that there is only one God,
the Father, who created everything,
and we live for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus
Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we
have been given life.
(1 Corinthians 8:6, New Living Translation) |

Iglesia ni Cristo belief in God and
Jesus Christ:
Iglesia
ni Cristo believes in the absolute oneness
of God, that "the
Only True God is the Father" in heaven; The Father is the Lord God Almighty, the
Creator of all things. God is Spirit, eternal, immortal and invisible; He is the
God and Father of Jesus Christ and His Apostles; and that of
Moses,
Abraham and the ancient Israelites.
Iglesia ni
Cristo believes that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God. As the Son
of God,
Jesus is a
Man.
However, Jesus is not an ordinary man but a "very special Man",
who was sanctified; made
Lord, Christ, Savior, Mediator and Judge by God. |

Apostle's admonition, warning and
unique way of teaching:
1.
No prophecy of scripture is a matter of personal
interpretation. (II Pt. 1:20, NAB)
2. Do not go beyond what
is written. (I
Cor. 4:6, NIV)
3.
We do not use words of human wisdom. We speak words given to
us by the Spirit,
using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths. (1
Cor. 2:13, NLT) |

Points to Consider: |
|
|
1.
Notice that in the above verse Apostle Paul is talking to
the early Christians about their faith and this include
their belief in God and Jesus Christ.
2. In the above verse, Apostle Paul clearly said
"But we know
that there is only one God, the Father, who created
everything". Thus Apostle Paul unmistakably
indentified the "Father as the only one God" and therefore
confirm the teaching of the Lord Jesus that "the Father is
the only true God" (John
17:1,3).
3. And Apostle Paul also clearly said this about Jesus,
"And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God
made everything". Thus Apostle Paul clarified that
"the only one God, the Father" is
distinct or separate being from "the only one
Lord, Jesus Christ". Click the following

Interesting Question #40, why they are distinct or
separate being.
4. Please note carefully that Apostle Paul never said
that "Jesus is God" or that "Jesus is the Creator" as
Trinitarians believe Him to be. Apostle Paul clearly
said that "Jesus Christ is the only one Lord, through whom
God made everything", thus, definitely Jesus is not God nor
the Creator. |

1 Corinthians 8:6 in other versions of
the Bible: |
|
|
But to us there is but one God, the
Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord
Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
(King James
Version)
yet for us there
is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we
for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all
things, and through whom we live.
(New King James Version)
6
For us there is only one God, and he is our Father. All
things came from him, and we live for him. And there is only
one Lord, Jesus Christ. All things were made through him,
and we also have life through him. 7
But not all people know this. (Easy to Read Version)
yet for us there is but one God, the
Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and
there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things
came and through whom we live. (New International Version)
