Sitting apart

Letter to the Editor:
PASUGO, April 2000, p.2

I LIVE BY the motto "A family that prays together stays together." So you can imagine my surprise when I attended your worship service and I had to sit away from. my wife and daughter. Why are men and women seated apart?  Shouldn't families be together when they worship?

Editor's reply:

Praying together does not only mean kneeling or sitting side by side. Family members who are gathered in the house of worship to worship and pray are also together when doing their God-given tasks. One reason men and women sit separately during worship services is the implementation of the orderliness taught by Apostle Paul:

“…When you meet to worship, you must do everything for the good of everyone there…. Do everything properly and in order.” (I Cor. 14:26, 40, Contemporary English Version)

We should worship God free from anything that may cause distraction or confusion, for the Lord we worship is not the author of confusion (I Cor. 14:33, New King James Version). By keeping this orderliness, worshipers would be able to concentrate throughout the worship service.
